You May Be Drinking Too Much Water - 7 Signs to Look Out For - My Adventure to Fit

You May Be Drinking Too Much Water - 7 Signs to Look Out For

9 months ago, I found out something that made my life so much easier. There is absolutely zero need for humans (especially sedentary) to be drinking 1 gallon of water a day. Drinking water doesn't burn fat. Period.

As a matter of fact, I have drank less water this last 9 months (losing 50 pounds) than I did in the last 6 years. Less water, more electrolytes. Hydrating when thirsty and listening to my body.

At some point in time, I was convinced by the fitness industry that if I drank a gallon of water a day, I would lose weight and be the healthiest version of myself. This is sadly completely inaccurate.

Turns out, drinking a gallon of water a day has more cons than it does pros. Over hydrating with plain water depletes essential electrolytes out of your body. There is no problem with drinking water if there are added electrolytes, but most people don't do this.

What are the essential electrolytes?
Sodium, calcium, potassium, chloride, phosphate, and magnesium.

Today I wanted to send you some signs of over hydration for you to be aware of. Most people suffer through drinking their gallon a day. Most people do not enjoy it. Most people are sick of going to the restroom 45 times a day.

Signs of OVER-HYDRATION:

  1. Dizzy
  2. Lightheaded
  3. Tired
  4. Muscle cramps
  5. Excess urination
  6. Nausea
  7. Confusion

I couldn’t believe the last time I shared this on IG, how many people messaged me saying they had been previously hospitalized from over drinking water. Their potassium and sodium levels were dangerously low. They were following the gallon a day method that trends every day on social media (as I once did) thinking they were doing their body a favor, when the opposite was true.

Drink the water, but add some electrolytes! ♥️♥️♥️

If you are ravenously thirsty and can’t stop drinking water - this is an indication of blood sugar. “Excessive thirst and increased urination are common diabetes signs and symptoms”.

If you are outside pouring sweat or exercising - this is different. If you are sedentary in AC all day, this is something that should be checked on immediately.

For all of you who force yourself sick to chug a gallon of water a day, you have been freed ⛓ If you are doing Keto, electrolytes are EXTRA important. Read my article on that here.  As far as what electrolytes to drink, there really weren't any brands on the market that we could drink. They were all loaded with sugar, artificial flavors and weird ingredients. Lucky for us, we own a supplement company so of course we formulated our own 😊 Bonus, they taste like candy 😋 Our kids love them too.

All flavors of electrolytes are here.
